Monkey vs Mortimer

Turning the respawns off.

What the heck: Version 2.5

After starting with Heymonkeybrain as my focus, the focus then shifted to Squidoo based lenses on Video games. This was a good time and  I enjoyed my time working with the wonderful folks at Squidoo.   But that partnership came to an end a few months back and this blog sorta floundered while I wondered what to do with it, while also working tons of overtime and going through some family heath scares.   But I’m back.

I have two ideas floating around in my head currently that I hope to have sorted out and started by new year.  First is that I definitely want to do something based on the PS3 trophy system, maybe making easy to use guides on how to get trophies in games.  I obviously can’t and won’t play every game that has trophies, so maybe taking on another writer or two to fill in the gaps will be something that happens.   There is no money to be made here, this is purely just out of a love of gaming and writing.   It’s a decent resume filler though.

What I don’t know is whether I will make a whole new blog for that and keep this one as a more personal blog, which would be updated less frequently but would get back into matters of politics, entertainment, and just personal crap going on in my life…  and then maybe buying a domain name (I’m thinking Trophywhores.com, if it isn’t taken) for the new site.  Or I may just convert this into that.   That remains unclear.

But change is coming, and by new year I hope to have launched on this new project.

I think we have reached a point where the Corporate Video game media is failing us, reviews are almost always garbage, previews are just free advertising and hype for companies trying to make a fast buck.  It’s for this reason that I think blogs like this and tons of independently made voices are a must for the more discerning videogame fans.  I hope to do my small part to fill that void.
